Donna Rae Dockstader Timpson was born August 6,1935, and passed away peacefully at her home April 4, 2025. She was born to Theral Ray Dockstader and Leah Peacock Kilpack in Pocatello, Idaho. She was the second of 8 children. In 1942, her family moved to Short Creek, Arizona. She lived a pioneer life and learned at an early age to take on adult-level responsibilities. For her grade school education, she attended Short Creek Elementary. Because there was no secondary education in Short Creek at that time, she moved to Farmington, Utah, and lived with relatives while she attended Davis High School.
Donna married Alma Adelbert Timpson September 11, 1951, as a plural wife. Due to religious persecution and legal threats, the Timpson "families" lived in an "underground" manner. She moved from residence to residence in Salt Lake and Davis Counties, along with a two-year stay in Boise, Idaho. Despite her youth in these challenging times, Donna maintained her optimistic outlook that she was always watched over and everything would work out in the end.
In 1959, she relocated to Short Creek (Colorado City), sharing a basement with other families. Brother Timpson built a modest house in Hildale and moved her there for several years. Her older children attended elementary school in Hildale. In June of 1969, she moved to the Timpson residence in Colorado City, Arizona, where she lived for the rest of her life.
Donna was a significant foundational support in the home. She provided three meals daily, regularly serving 20 - 30 people at each meal, which often included impromptu guests. Meals were served at the same time, every day, on the minute. During the 1970s, she assisted in managing a home-based business that funded the large addition to the home. She managed scheduling, ordering, purchasing, shipping, and customer service, while maintaining the rigorous meal and housekeeping schedule. In the 1980s, she was relieved of the homefront and entered the "workforce". Finding employment with local businesses (Polycraft, MTI, Westar, Ad-Hatters, PlusOne), she worked literally until the week of her death. This employment was interrupted only once when she took two years off (2010 - 2012) to provide daily care for an aging sister wife. These experiences brought her into wider contact with the community and led to a long, meaningful career as a community-wide "Grandmother". Her desk was the place people could pick up or send a FedEx package or exchange messages. The community is full of beloved Grandma Donna stories.
She faced many opportunities to put faith into action, facing the necessary travails of life in a struggling and growing community and church. Her mind never rested; her hands never held back; her soul was always engaged, reflecting a heart deeply founded in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. She fully engaged the learning experience of mortality, living a full life of sacrifice and service, being rewarded with the blessings of the faithful.
She remained in good health with a quick mind, staying physically active, and working daily. On Tuesday, March 25, 2025, she worked her usual shift for PlusOne. That night, she suffered a stroke. She was surrounded by loved ones, who were able to say their goodbyes before she passed on the morning of April 4, 2025.
Donna is preceded in death by four of her siblings, her husband, five of her sister wives and ten of the children. Her direct posterity includes 13 children, 150 grandchildren, 358 great-grandchildren, and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
There will be a family viewing at the Timpson home in Colorado City on Friday, April 11, from 7:00-9:00 p.m. There will be a public viewing, also at the Timpson home in Colorado City, 365 Johnson Avenue, on Sunday, April 13, from 7:00-9:00 pm.
